We weave a tangled web! Dick Wolfcharacters on Chicago Fire, Chicago Police as well as Chicago Honey intertwined on multiple levels, including siblings, marriages, and failed romances.
Fans had an early taste of the cross-links with Chicago FireGabby Dawson (ur.Monica Raimund) as well as Chicago PoliceAntonio Dawson (John Seda). The fictional sister-brother duo first appeared onscreen together in the show’s first season. Fire, which is Wolf’s first One Chicago series. (The show debuted in October 2012.)
“When I was first offered the role, Dick Wolf said that he was the brother of Gabriela Dawson and that he was a detective,” Seda recalled during an interview with Star magazine in October 2017. “So I think I pretty much had the opportunity to bring everything that I was going to bring Antonio into there. Of course, now the way he’s written in the scripts… That’s it – he’s Gabby’s brother and a detective.

“We really didn’t have time to rehearse and get to know each other,” Seda explained. “She is such a professional and such a wonderful person that it is so easy for me to go to the set and see her and work with her. She’s so nice and a pleasure to work with.”
Shortly after the audience was introduced to Chicago PoliceJay HalsteadJesse Lee Soffer) during the first season of the procedural drama, they learned that he had an equally talented brother, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gelfuss), who later became the protagonist Chicago Honey.
Behind the scenes, the actors’ connection goes beyond just friendship – they have the experience of saving a person’s life together.
“My favorite fan story is actually a real life rescue encounter,” Soffer said. reporters at Comic Con in July 2021, remembering the time the duo helped save a woman in a car accident. “I was at dinner with Nick Gelfuss, who plays my brother in Chicago Honeyand we were walking home from dinner and we heard tires screeching behind us, about a block away.”

“Nick and I, we ran, and he was like, ‘What are we doing?’ And I thought, “We’re going, we’ve got to go.” And we got down to business,” Soffer continued. “We jumped into the ditch and pulled this woman out. The car was on its side, we pulled it out, in general, from the driver’s window and lifted it up.
During The actor noted that the woman was surprised to see both actors playing Chicago rescuers at the scene of the accident. “She’s like, ‘Aaah!’ It was a strange meta experience for her that the Halsted brothers saved her life,” Soffer added.
