Ana De Armas’ favorite Marilyn Monroe movies make too much sense

At a recent ‘Blonde’ press event that Looper attended, Ana de Armas was asked a few questions about ‘Blonde’ and her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe. Toward the end of the discussion, Armas was asked what her favorite Monroe movie was, and she didn’t hesitate to mention two films. She said, “I think she is incredible in The Prince and the Showgirl. She is very, very good. This performance was amazing and she is so fresh, fun and light. But I also love Some Like It Hot and she’s in great company too.”

Both of these films were released towards the end of Monroe’s career: The Prince and the Showgirl was released in 1957, and Some Like It Hot was released in 1959. The Prince and the Showgirl starred Monroe, Laurence Olivier. , and Richard Wattis, and this particular movie about the Reagent Prince (Olivier) trying to seduce dancer Elise (Monroe). “Some Like It Hot” stars Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and is about two brothers (Curtis and Lemmon) who witness a mob crime and decide to run away pretending to be female musicians.

Considering these two films are Armas’ favorite Monroe films, it seems that Armas appreciates both the romantic and comedic side of the famous actress. Hopefully fans will get a chance to see Armas show off his knowledge of Monroe when “Blonde” becomes available. Blonde will have a limited release in New York on September 16th, in select markets on September 23rd, and will be available on Netflix on September 28th.
