Bachelorette Party Brooke Blairton said it was her decision to part ways with her winner, Darvid Garayeli, showing that the couple wanted “different things.”
Brooke Blairton of The Bachelorette released a lengthy statement on social media explaining the reason behind her split from winner Darvid Garayeli.
The 27-year-old, who previously lashed out at Garayeli for publicly saying they broke up without her involvement, said it was her choice to break up, adding that they “lost themselves” in the process of continuing the relationship after the finale. broadcast in November.
“I’ll be the first to say it was my choice to end the relationship and I thought about it a bit towards the end,” Blairton wrote in her Instagram story.
“My reasons for this are completely valid to me. For a while I was unhappy, and not just because of the relationship.
“I have a lot of respect for Darvid and what he sacrificed for me to be in a relationship, but it seems like we both lost ourselves along the way.”
Blairton, a youth worker from Washington who currently lives in Melbourne, said there was a lot of “pressure” on the couple, adding that she went through a tough time following her sister’s death after filming.
“We had a very real love in a very unrealistic situation, but at the same time we were under STRONG pressure. Which I thought I carried with me every day,” Blairton wrote.
“At the beginning of the show, I was the best version of myself, and when the show ended, my sister died. I became the worst and saddest.
“I have definitely put my heart and soul into the show and represent myself, my family and the minority groups that I represent with nothing but the highest (sic) honesty, respect and love. But the person I forgot to love the most was myself.”
Blurton concluded by saying that she and Garayeli wanted “different things”.
“I love Darvid and he has a good heart, but unfortunately we ended up being two different people who wanted different things, that’s all. No infidelity, no hate, just a pressure cooker,” Blairton wrote.
“We are as friendly as can be during the healing process. I still love him very much and do not regret at all that I chose him. I just wish the world was a little softer on us during the time we had.”
Garayeli posted the breakup to an Instagram story last week, which shocked fans as they seemed blissfully happy weeks before.
“Let’s start the new year at the end of one chapter and hopefully at the beginning of another,” Garayeli wrote.
“Unfortunately, Brooke and I broke up. Although we sincerely thought we were each other’s people (sic), things change and that’s okay.
“Please respect our privacy and that at the end of the day we are both just people with feelings.”
But Blairton said the post was just as much of a shock to her, saying she understands the news will remain confidential.
“I just want to say that right now I find this really overwhelming and just as amazing for me as it is for you guys,” she wrote on her own Instagram story.
“I just woke up to the news. It was definitely decided to leave. I just wanted to do it in private, friendly and respectful. It’s not like or what I expected to do right now, so as you can imagine, it’s all a lot.”
Blairton broke new ground by becoming the first Indigenous queer girl on a reality show last year in which she chose Jamie-Lee over Garayel.
She previously starred in the Nick Cummins season. Bachelorbefore showing on Bachelor in Paradise.
