Cult film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ set for Saudi’s Red Sea Fest –

Aditya Chopra’s 1995 hit film Those with hearts will take the bride. (DDLJ), Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol (Kajol Devgn), will open public screenings at Saudi Arabia’s upcoming Red Sea International Film Festival, which runs from December 1-10 in the port city of Jeddah.

The feature will open the program for the event’s new open-air Red Sea Cornish venue, which will host free screenings and concerts over the 10 days of the festival.


DDLJ After its limited re-release at multiplex chains PVR, Inox and Cinepolis on November 2 to mark co-star Khan’s 57th birthday, it is enjoying a frenzied revival in cinemas across India this month.

The cult classic reportedly packed the theaters where it played and grossed close to $30,000 a day which is considered a good number considering the fact that the feature is widely available on streaming platforms.

Khan will be honored at the Red Sea this year. I DDLJhe and Kajol star as a couple who meet on an interrail vacation in Europe but only realize it when the woman is called back to India for an arranged marriage.

Chopra, who was just 23 when he directed the film, is now the chairman and managing director of Indian giant Yash Raj Films, which was founded by his father.

“We are delighted that our film, even 27 years after its release, is one of the most loved films in the history of world cinema. It is our pleasure that DDLJ will have a public screening at this year’s Red Sea International Film Festival. It will be the first movie to start.

Audiences attending a free outdoor screening of the festival’s official opening film What’s Love Got To Do With It? will also be able to see the arrival of the red carpet on the big screen.


Other titles played as part of the Corniche program include Gurendra Chadha’s Band It Like Beckham, the Egyptian classic Watch out for Zozo and the 1980 epic war film by Syrian-American director and producer Mustafa Akkad Desert lionStarring Anthony Quinn and Oliver Reed.
