Veteran Mary Poppins actor Dick Van Dyke, 96, smirked for the cameras while walking around Malibu this week, joking that he was “just happy to still be here.”

Dick Van Dyke, 96, looked happier than ever when he left lunch with friends in Malibu last Thursday, telling well-wishers he was “just glad to still be here.”

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang The legend was subsequently spotted running errands after a lunch date, picking up a bottle of Neutrogena self-tanning spray from a local store.

The bright star dressed for the event in a light gray sweater and navy blue trousers. He added a pair of comfortable slip-on shoes and a stylish leather shoulder bag.

Proving that he was still smart, Van Dyke got behind the wheel of his Lexus and drove home after that.

Mary Poppins The veterinarian can sometimes be seen in Malibu having lunch and going to the gym with his wife, Arlene Silver, 50.

The couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in February by posting a romantic Valentine’s Day video online, and they are rarely seen without each other.

The age-defying actor is known for keeping fit and healthy despite advancing age. closer weekly that he still goes to the gym three times a week.

“I have always been involved in sports and still … I go to the pool and play sports. At my age, they say keep moving. Put me on solid ground and I’ll start tapping,” he said in 2019.

Van Dyke said that he does water aerobics, lifts weights and walks on a treadmill. He also attributed his toned physique to “good genes”.

Meanwhile, the smitten star said the much younger Silver also keeps him on his toes.

“I sometimes forget that we are doing a big experiment here – a difference of 46 years. And we are working on it to some extent,” he explained. “There must be some understanding. Find out which old habits no longer work. It takes some adaptation and adjustment, but that’s part of the fun.”

Van Dyke first met Silver at the 2007 Screen Actors Guild Awards. He was 81 at the time and she was only 35.

Silver spoke to Nearer in a separate interview earlier this year, recalling the moment she first saw her current husband.

“He said, ‘Hi, I’m Dick.’ The first thing I asked him was: “Weren’t you in Mary Poppins? We immediately hit it off as friends, so it didn’t feel like he was much older than me,” she told the publication.

The devoted wife continued cooing, “He is the most perfect man. I have never met anyone so happy, so sincere, so amazing. He’s just like a happy pill.”

The couple were friends for several years before their relationship turned into a romantic one.

Van Dyke said he was glad his fans were supportive of the relationship: “I thought there would be outrage over a gold digger marrying an old man, but no one has ever taken that position.”

In their popular anniversary video, the pair showcased their fun-loving relationship by dancing to a cover of Doris Day’s 1958 song. Everyone loves a lover performed by Silver’s band, Arlene & the Vantastix.
