EXCLUSIVEToronto-based Elevation Pictures has acquired the North American rights to Warren Pereira’s feature-length documentary. Tiger 24, executive producer of The Gotham Group. The film has a limited theatrical release that includes a week-long screening at Laemmle’s Monica Film Center (Los Angeles) starting September 30th. It will subsequently be released across all transactional VOD platforms in North America on November 15th.
AT Tiger 24, a wild tiger kills people who enter its territory, then it is declared a cannibal and locked in a zoo. This is generating massive social unrest and activists who take their case to the streets, online, on billboards, and all the way to the Supreme Court.
World premiere at this year’s Cleveland Film Festival. Tiger 24 is a finalist for the Jackson Wild Media Awards and has two nominations at the Wildscreen Festival, among previous winners My teacher is an octopus. Pereira served as the film’s producer, while Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and executive director Jeremy Bell produced the film, along with Eagle Egilsson, Howard Barish, Zack Mann, and Steven Nemeth.
Pereira’s past work has won top awards, including the Cannes Golden Lion, and has been screened at leading international film festivals. Clients for his production company W Films include The Royal Bank of Scotland, Spectrum, Tissot, NBA, Hpnotiq, The Wall Street Journal and agencies such as DDB and CAA. In addition, Pereira founded The Tiger Fund LLC, which produces materials related to tiger conservation, including films for the Government of India. Now the director is engaged in post-production of the feature film. Bamer tigerand at the same time developing a dark comic thriller, double bite.
Gotham Group is a management and production company that serves as one of the industry’s leading centers for literary materials and intellectual property. Gotham has just completed production on the highly anticipated Henry Selick animated film. Wendell and Wild for Netflix in collaboration with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions. In terms of television, Gotham is currently in production on Washington Black, based on the critically acclaimed novel by Esi Edugian, which is being adapted by Selwyn Hinds and Sterling K. Brown is set to produce and star in the Hulu title. Gotham is also in production at the recently announced Percy Jackson series on Disney+ with Chronicles of Spiderwick series with Paramount Television, also for Disney+.
