American actress Edie McClurg’s family said she was a victim of elder abuse.
In court documents seen New York Postfamily Mr. Ferris Bueller’s day off the star, who lives in Los Angeles and suffers from dementia, claimed she was abused by a man claiming to be a “longtime” friend who reportedly tried to smuggle her out of California to marry her.
Filed with the California Supreme Court, the alleged rapist named Michael L. Ramos, who has reportedly been living in the home of a 76-year-old man in Los Angeles since 2017.
According to the documents, Ramos is unemployed, not paying rent or any expenses, and was able to “penetrate” McClurg’s life, reportedly trying to smuggle her out of California to marry her despite her dementia diagnosis.
The documents also allege Ramos allegedly “sexually harassed” McClurg’s current guardian, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
In addition, the guardian was “concerned” that Ramos “rapes or may assault a conservative and that she may not even know this is happening to her,” according to court documents.
McClurg and Ramos “were never connected [in] romantic relationship”, and now the caretaker is concerned that he raped the actress.
They reported that he wanted to marry her out of state, despite knowing that she had “not enough ability” and that she lived in her home for “communion”, which the custody judge allowed.
McClurg is under guardianship and has received protection from a judge – according to the documents – who ordered Ramos “not to enter into a valid marriage” with McClurg.
The guardianship attorney, who has been on the job since 2019, is now reportedly seeking an order to remove Ramos entirely from the legal agreement.
In 2019, McClurg’s family reportedly asked the court for a legal settlement, alleging that she was living with a male companion who abused her and tried to influence the disposition of her estate, reportedly by forcing her to sign papers.
2019 Neuropsychological Assessment Report received by Mail said that McClurg “suffers from a progressive, irreversible neurodegenerative disorder.”
The report outlined previous cases where McClurg was allegedly taken advantage of, including by a married contractor who worked in her home and later reportedly “continued to live” in her home, claiming to be “her boyfriend.”
The contractor’s wife allegedly “started calling the patient and even harassing the patient” before McClurg’s cousin, Angelica Cabral, intervened.
The assessment also noted that Ramos allegedly “befriended” McClurg in 2012 or 2013.
Cabral was appointed her guardian and on July 14 filed an emergency motion to have Ramos evicted from McClurg’s home.
Ramos filed an objection to the emergency motion in his statement, denying assault or sexual assault on McClurg or her guardian.
McClurg has over 200 acting credits and has appeared in iconic films such as Ferris Bueller’s day off as well as Planes, trains and cars and did voice acting Little Mermaid, Beetle Life, Cars as well as Film Oh, these kids.
