For their happy ending. Erich Schwer proposed Gabby Windy during the season 19 finale hen-party Tuesday, September 20th.
“When I met you, I kind of became 100 percent myself. I have never met anyone with whom I feel so comfortable – with such a deep connection. It felt like I really knew you for many years,” Erich said. “I didn’t know it, but I met my soul mate. You finally broke down your barriers and I think our relationship has reached this insane level. … You literally make me feel like the only person in the world. And I will fight every day for the rest of my life to keep this feeling going. I love you Gabby Windy. You are wonderful. You are the most amazing person I have ever met. It’s you and me until the wheels fall off. I’m head over heels in love with you and want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Although the New Jersey native was Gabby’s latest fiancé before the final, the duo have been through a lot of tension over the past few weeks. On the September 13 episode, Erich hinted that he was not ready to ask the question.
“He said, ‘I want to keep dating you,’ so it wouldn’t scream, ‘I want to propose,'” Gabby said towards the end of the first part of the finale. “I don’t want to force him to make a decision.” Turning to the producers, she asked: “What should I do – leave because he does not want to propose?”
The drama continued behind the scenes as Erich apologized after a photo surfaced showing him in blackface a few years ago.
“I sincerely apologize for the tactless photo of me in Blackface from my high school yearbook that was circulated,” he wrote on Instagram on September 8. “What I then considered an expression of my love for Jimi Hendrix was nothing but ignorance. I was naive about the detrimental effects of my actions on the black community and those closest to me, and I will always regret my abusive and destructive behavior. I am very ashamed of my actions, and I understand that my apology is only the first step towards being held accountable.”
At that time, Erich was already the last suitor who pursued Gabby. Resuscitation Nurse eliminated Johnny DeFillipo during the September 5 episode after he said he was not ready to propose, while Jason Alabaster leave the show after a date night.
A few days before the final, Erich hit the headlines again when Amanda Keillor claimed he broke up with her to go on the show. In text messages Amanda shared with @BachelorNation.Scoop, Erich allegedly told his ex that his time on the show would not be “real”.
The duo allegedly dated from January to March after meeting at Hinge. Amanda claimed that Erich told her that he felt “stuck in his career path” and wanted a change, so he decided to sign up for an ABC reality show.
The couple didn’t speak again until July, the same month that season 19 was filmed. hen-party premiere. “I’m sorry, Amanda, what I did was terrible. I don’t expect you to ever forgive me,” Erich allegedly wrote on July 10. “I just want you to know that I think about you all the time and you really deserve the best. I will never forgive myself, I hope you find happiness and everything you deserve.
At the time, neither Gabby nor Erich made any public accusations.
