DANNY Dyer, the beloved Eastenders star, has decided to give up soap for good.
The soap star moved into a rival drama on Sky after his time in Albert Square made him a household name.
Who is Danny Dyer and how old is he?
Danny Dyer is a 44-year-old actor and heartthrob known for making many low-budget gangster films.
Danny was born in Canning Town, East London in 1977 and is an avid West Ham United fan. He now lives in Essex.
Some of his most memorable projects include Football Factory, Business and Dog Kennel.
Starting his career at the age of 16, he was discovered by an agent who tried him for the role of Martin Fletcher in the Granada television series Prime Suspect 3 in 1993.
Since then, other television work has included roles in Cadfael, Touch of the Frost, Lovers, Thief Thieves, Soldier Soldier, Accident, Holliox Later, and Skins, and have also enjoyed hugely successful film careers.
Currently, however, he is best known for his role as Queen Vic homeowner Mick Carter in EastEnders.
When did Danny Dyer join EastEnders and why is he leaving?
In October 2013, the BBC announced that Danny would be joining the popular soap from Christmas 2013.
He made his debut alongside actress Kelly Bright as Mick and Linda Carter.
The father of three had previously discussed a role in East Endians in 2009, but turned it down.
“I really liked this idea, but in fact I just got cold feet,” he said then.
“Just because I had a meeting, it was in all the newspapers, and it terrified me. Imagine if I went for it? “
Danny took a “little break” in soap in 2017.
The actor, who plays Mick, has decided to leave the East End for good to look for other opportunities.
Danny is believed to have signed a new deal for the rival drama on Sky with a six-figure deal.
While this is significantly less than what he makes from the BBC, he is free to pursue opportunities outside of the corporation that could dramatically increase his income.
Is he married with children?
Danny lives in Essex with his wife Joe Mas.
They have been dating since 1992, married since 2016.
Before Danny’s big success, Joe was the main breadwinner, working as a financial advisor.
He has two daughters, Dani and Sunny, and a son named Artie.
Danny appeared on Survival of the Fittest and won Love Island 2018. Danny and Dani also co-host a Spotify podcast called Sorted with the Dyers.
What else is Danny Dyer known for?
Danny starred in the BBC series Who Are You? in 2016.
Viewers could not believe it, as it was revealed that Danny’s blood was associated with both William the Conqueror and Edward III.
The star has also hosted the game show The Wall since 2019, raising his BBC salary from £ 400,000 to £ 1 million.
In 2019, he also took a six-week hiatus to play alongside Martin Freeman in a series of plays dedicated to his mentor Harold Pinter.
What’s its net worth?
Danny Dyer’s fortune is estimated at around £ 4 million.
The actor’s wealth was also supported by a large salary for his work in the East End.
Danny was reportedly the highest paid on the show, earning £ 400,000 a year.
Skye has since lured him away for an unspecified six-figure sum.
