Family happiness! One year after Jessica Batten as well as Benjamin McGrath celebrated their engagement, the couple secretly got married.

“Mr. and Mrs.”, Love is blind alum, 36, signed Friday, September 16: Instagram released their wedding photos, showing they tied the knot on August 24.

While Batten and the 35-year-old foot and ankle surgeon were planning a grand wedding ceremony, COVID-19 delays and physical distancing from their loved ones soon made matters worse.

“Amid COVID, family health and travel logistics, we are caught between a rock and a hard place trying to plan a wedding in 2022,” the couple said. brides magazine on Friday. “We tried to make it all work. We were thinking about rescheduling our date or moving the location to Chicago. In the end, we decided that we needed more time to put on a massive celebration that we felt was worthy of our family and friends.”

They added, “Given the timing we’re looking for in terms of family planning, we’ve come to the conclusion that we’ll be escaping in 2022 and making big plans for the celebration going forward.”

Batten and McGrath, who have daughter Poppy, 6, and son Ethan, 5, married with a former partner in a Santa Barbara courthouse last month with just two couples as witnesses.

“[It’s] a classic landmark in our favorite city; the city we fell in love with,” Batten told the magazine, wearing a Reem Acra dress. “When we started planning our escape, the courthouse was the obvious choice. … On the day of the wedding, our organizers found a nook in the yard, completely surrounded by palm trees – the perfect place to share our vows.”

After a year of dating, McGrath proposed to the reality TV alum in September 2021.

“It was a complete surprise, she had no idea,” he said exclusively. Us weekly a mounth later. “One day I just thought, ‘I’m going to do this, we have to do this.’ … We never talked about the ring or anything like that, so I kind of planned it in connection with her father coming to town, and he kind of contributed to the surprise. And it turned out pretty well, I think we learned it well.

Admittedly, the Netflix personality felt downright “stunned” to see her beau down on one knee.

“It took me a minute, but I read a line from Suits“, she recalled Us in October 2021. “When we were [doing] from afar we watched Suits, and we’d just be on FaceTime, set up a phone there, and just watch together. So instead of saying yes, I asked, “Do I have a brain in my head?” Do I have a heart in my chest? And he liked it. Then he forgot to put on the ring, so I reminded him, “You have to put on the ring now.”

Batten, who plans to celebrate her wedding with a big party next year, previously accepted an offer from Mark Cuevas during season 1 Love is blind. After a turbulent journey and worries about the age difference, Batten called off the engagement during the final wedding ceremony. Cuevas, for his part, married Aubrey Rainey earlier this month.
