EXCLUSIVE: First Lady Jill Biden will visit Los Angeles on Friday with an itinerary that includes a fundraiser hosted by a writer-producer and Friends co-author Martha Kaufman.
According to the invitation, the dinner party in Hancock Park is for the Democratic Victory Fund, which raises money for the Democratic National Committee and state parties.
“With less than 65 days left until Election Day, all support is critical to ensure Democrats across the country have the resources they need to make the final push by November,” the invitation reads.
After the event, the First Lady will visit the Homeboy Bakery and Homegirl Cafe in Los Angeles. Homeboy Industries, founded by Father Gregory Boyle, provides on-the-job training and rehabilitation services to former gang members and those previously incarcerated.
The First Lady visited Los Angeles in June with her husband, President Joe Biden, for a DNC-hosted fundraiser at the Haim and Cheryl Saban home and at the Andrew Hauptman home hosted by Jeffrey Katzenberg. It remains to be seen whether the president will make a return visit to Los Angeles, the ATM machine of politicians of both parties, ahead of the November vote.
Until then, a number of candidates are planning a trip to Los Angeles, trying to replenish their military budget for the campaign. On Thursday evening, Beto O’Rourke, hoping to unseat Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, will headline an event that will include Linda and Stuart Resnick, Bob Daly and Carol Bayer Sager, and Brian Lourd. Another O’Rourke event earlier in the day will be hosted by James Costos and Michael Smith at their home, with a list of co-hosts including Rob Reiner, Nancy Stevens and Rick Rosenthal.
