Johnny Depp Joins TikTok After Winning Amber Heard Defamation Trial

Rising high after a resounding libel win, Johnny Depp appears to be plotting his comeback.

Rising to the top after a resounding libel win, Johnny Depp appears to be planning his comeback by joining TikTok on Monday as he continues to tour with musician Jeff Beck.

On Monday afternoon, sharp-eyed fans noticed that Depp, 58, had joined the social media app with a verified profile. His biography says “accidental actor” and as of Monday evening he had about a quarter of a million followers.

This was announced by a source close to Depp. New York Post that the movie star certainly wants to return to the big screen and hopes that his acting career will revive in the future.

For the time being, a source has said that Depp is focused on himself and his music and is enjoying the weight off his shoulders caused by the court victory over ex-wife Amber Heard.

Depp stayed in the United Kingdom to join musician friend and collaborator Beck on his tour. He has appeared on stage at several of the guitarist’s concerts, including at London’s Royal Albert Hall late last month.

His name also seems to be turning a profit again. Dior, which supported the star until the sentencing, has reportedly seen a surge in sales of Sauvage, the cologne Depp is promoting.

Fans are buying the cologne, which sells for $155 for a 6.8-ounce bottle, to show their support for the actor, the Wall Street Journal reported last week.

Dior does not release sales figures, but the magazine reported that Depp’s fragrance is the top-selling men’s cologne at Sephora and Ulta online stores. WWD reports that it is the second most popular fragrance in the world.

“He knows that Dior in particular has been steadfast and unwavering in their support, and he will always be grateful to them and all those who have supported him through sales on his behalf,” Depp’s rep told the magazine. On TikTok, videos with the hashtag #diorsauvage have been viewed nearly 350 million times.

Unsurprisingly, the teen heartthrob found a friendly following on TikTok, which was flooded with pro-Depp content during his six-week trial against Heard in Fairfax, Virginia.

The #JohnnyDepp hashtag has 33.5 billion views on the platform, more than four times the total world population. #JusticeforJohnnyDepp has a staggering 20.2 billion views. The mocking hashtag #AmberTurd, used to taunt Heard, has garnered 4.3 billion views, while #JusticeforAmberHeard has only 85.9 million views.

However, Depp’s appearance on the platform comes as some TikTok users seem to be turning their backs on the actor and defecting to Heard’s side.

However, a former Disney executive recently suggested to People magazine that Depp could return as Jack Sparrow in the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie if he wanted to.

In his statement after the jury delivered their verdict last week, Depp hinted at a possible return to the main stage.

“The best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun,” he said.
