An autograph collector allegedly punched by Kanye West told Kristen Bell Tattoos: “I’m just trying to live and come home.”
Sources said Justin Poplawsky, 40, was a fan who was involved in a huge 3 a.m. brawl with rap superstar Kanye early Thursday morning in Los Angeles.
Kanye, 44, was named a suspect by the LAPD in a beating report following the incident, but no arrests have been made so far.
The alleged victim, Justin, 40, originally from St. Louis, Missouri but currently believed to be living in Illinois, was photographed earlier in the night behind Kanye and his new lover Julia Fox.
The famous enthusiast has been collecting autographs for over 25 years.
He has taken numerous selfies over the years with celebrities and VIPs including Leonardo DiCaprio, Taylor Swift, Barack Obama and Adele.
Justin told Kristen Bell Tattoos: “I really don’t have any comments right now, not at this moment. I still have other things to take care of. Now I’m just trying to live and come home.”
Asked if he felt shaken after the incident, Justin replied, “No comment at this time.
“I appreciate your concern.”
The man believed to be Justin’s father, Joseph, was asked about the autograph collector’s side of the story about the Kanye incident, and he replied, “He’ll sort it out.”
Asked if Kanye’s father-of-four proposed to Justin to make up for the alleged assault, the man believed to be his father said, “I don’t know anything,” before hanging up.
Justin’s profile on the Real Autograph Collectors Club website states that collecting celebrity autographs has been his hobby since 1996.
He appears to run his own celebrity autograph signing business called All-Star Signatures LLC.
Justin wrote on his profile: “It all started when I went to the stadium to meet my favorite baseball players when I was a teenager.
“I quickly realized that my new favorite hobby could be more profitable than my side job at Target. So I started to get interested in hockey players and football players.
“And very soon after that, I started hiring musicians as they rolled around the city.
“I started touring the Midwest to get the best names that weren’t in St. Louis.
“Now I spend a couple of months of the year on the road (from New York to Los Angeles) collecting as many autographs as possible to help bring genuine autographs to market.”
The incident happened early Thursday morning outside the Soho Warehouse in downtown Los Angeles.
This was reportedly after Justin asked Kanye for a second autograph after approaching him outside of Delilah for the first time.
Kanye was at a popular West Hollywood nightclub with Julia, 31, before heading to the Soho Warehouse alone, where he was approached again by Justin, according to Page Six.
The pair are said to have exchanged words, which are currently being investigated by police, before the rapper allegedly jumped out of his car, called Justin, and then punched him in the ground.
Video of the incident shows Kanye yelling at a woman on his team while the intended victim is on the ground.
He is heard shouting “Get away from me”, to which the employee replies: “Give me your hand.”
Kanye reportedly left before officials arrived at the scene, where a police report was filed.
It is not yet known if he spoke to police about his side of the story.
Justin allegedly recorded the meeting on his phone, which was shown to the police and will be included in the investigation.
He reportedly refused medical attention after the incident.
