Kim Kardashian has dismissed allegations of blackfishing – insisting that “I will never do anything to suit any culture”.
41 year old She has been accused of using elements of black culture – such as wearing her hair in braids and tame her skin – to attract attention.
But in a new interview with ID Magazine, Kim played the role of playwright Jeremy O. told Harris: “Obviously, I would never do anything to suit any culture. But in the past I’ve held back from braiding my hair and I understand that.”
Kim, who is of Armenian descent, has children of North, Chicago, Psalm and Saint mixed race with rapper Kanye West, who is black.
She continued: “Honestly, it takes a long time for my daughter to ask us to do matching hair. And I’ve had these conversations with her like, ‘Hey, maybe this hairstyle would be better on you and not me.’ But I also want him to feel like I can do a hairstyle with him and not make it such a big deal, if he’s really asking for something, and really wants.
“But I’ve learned and grown over the years, and have figured out good ways to communicate all of this with my kids. I’ve definitely learned over time, and I’ve passed the culture of learning on to my kids as well. Tried to pass, but then Armenia also has a history of braiding hair, and people forget I’m Armenian too.”
Kim’s siblings Kylie and Kendall Recently got embroiled in a blackfishing row.
Both were accused of deliberately darkening their skin color to make their ethnicity more obscure.
Amidst the criticism, there are those who have defended the family by claiming that the critics are looking for things to promote their own agenda.
Meanwhile yesterday, Kim announced in an Instagram post that she has finally passed the baby bar as she continues to pursue a legal career.
Kim first revealed her plans to become a lawyer in 2019 and it took three attempts to pass the exam.
