“Even when it was hard, I just thought, ‘Well, this can be hard. Polygamy can be difficult.” I just thought it was okay to be sad and I think I was a lot sadder than I thought,” the reality TV star shares on Sunday’s episode. “But I tried. I tried to be as happy as possible, and of course I still found joy in things. Polygamy is hard. It’s really hard.”

Cody’s second wife Janelle Brownwhom he spiritually married in 1993 and with whom he has six children, says during confession that Cody and Kristin’s breakup was “inevitable.”

His first wife Mary Brownwhom he married in 1990, compared polygamy to “any other marriage”.

Robin Brown — who married a salesperson in 2010 and shares two children with him, as well as three children from a previous relationship — notes that it’s important not to be “lazy” in a polygamous marriage.

“You have to choose this every day,” adds fourth wife Cody, 43, in confession. “You have to want everyone in the family to be as happy as you want to be happy yourself. In my opinion, this is the only way to do it successfully.”

Cody and Kristin were together for 25 years before they broke up. They have six children: son Pedon, 23, and daughters Aspin, 27, Mikelti, 26, Gwendlin, 20, Isabel, 19, and Truly, 12.

The Utah native calls his ex’s confession “cute” as he notes that he had to “think a lot about himself” when he thought about how he treated her throughout their relationship and subsequent breakup.

Although Cristina says she feels “really grateful” that Cody didn’t get “angry” during their conversation, he calls her decision to end their relationship a “great injustice”.

“I need to get to a place where I can rejoice in your happiness and your freedom,” Cody Kristin continues during their conversation.
