Latinos win the 2021 Golden Globes

Since there were no welcome speeches, let’s take some time to these talented women and give them flowers.

If you haven’t caught Golden globe last night, don’t worry because no one else was worried either. As you remember, this year the show was not aired due to criticism that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, an organization of entertainment journalists responsible for voting for nominees and winners, had no black members. They were also accused “Institutionalization of the” culture of corruption “”.

Despite the work the organization has to do when it comes to inclusion, many Latinos won major awards last night and they deserve to celebrate those major wins.

The first, with the most historic victory of the evening, is our beloved Mj (Michaela J) Rodriguez. She won the Best Actress Award in a Television Series – Drama for her role as Blanca in Pose

It would be an oversight if I did not also mention films with a lot of Latin American actors, which also got a lot of success last night. First, we have everyone’s favorite, Encantowhich became the best animated film.

Jared Bush, who directed the film with Byron Howard, was delighted that the film resonated with many, and thanked Lin-Manuel Miranda and Germaine Franco, who wrote the music for the film.

Shocked So grateful that the work of so many dear friends resonates and people connect with our history of family, generations, empathy and perspective. Forever indebted to @Lin_Manuel & @germaine_franco, Our Dream Cast & @DisneyAnimation. All of you. ❤️ # Golden Globe https://t.co/dXmni0KovR

And finally we got West Side Story, which won the Best Film – Musical or Comedy nomination. The cast has a large number of Latin American performers at the forefront, something we never saw in the original 1961 film. He also executive produced Rita Moreno, who became first latina win an Oscar for her role as Anita in the original film.

Congratulations to every winner here. There is a lot of work to be done on the Golden Globe front and it would be great to see each of these people embrace their victories, but that doesn’t detract from the incredible work these performers put into their roles. … We wish you even more victories in the future!
