Learning To Love Her Naked Body – KristenBellTattoos.com

Janet Jackson’s legendary and at times overly thorough career has undergone a metamorphosis. But the transformation she went through was by no means easy. It took time, caring and regaining control over her body, as well as putting her story on public display, to achieve recognition. In a new profile, Jackson recalls his transformation between albums. Control and Janet and how she learned to love her body.

“I’ve never been a girl. I’ve always been a tomboy. So it was always about pants, suits, even in his early teens, ”Jackson recalled during her Charm interview. “I remember when my brothers got their star on the Walk of Fame and other awards they received, and I look back at the photos and I was always in a suit with a tie, bow tie or suspenders,” she continued. “Always loving black and never wanting to expose any part of my body, I felt most comfortable covering it up here.”

Indeed, even in the video for her 1986 hit “Control” from the album of the same name, Jackson was completely buttoned up. But by the time her 1993 album was released. Janet came out, Jackson was ready for a new era. During this painful period in her life, Jackson was all about “hugging me and trying to learn how to love me for me, my body and all that. I’m trying to feel comfortable accepting it, ”she explained to the publication. “I threw myself into the lion’s den. I just strive for this, I want to do something different. “

Before she could get there, however, Jackson admitted, “It took a lot of work, a lot of work. It was something very difficult, very difficult. But I’m glad I got through it. I am very glad that I got there. It was a way to accept and love, accept yourself and your body. ” Jackson’s reflections on her journey to accept her body and take control of her bodily autonomy make what happened about a decade later even more frustrating.

On the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, Jackson performed with Justin Timberlake, who inadvertently exposed the singer’s chest by ripping a piece of fabric from her suit. There have been so many retellings of exactly what happened – or should have happened – seconds before. For Jackson, though, the immediate repercussions included constant public ridicule and shame at a moment in her life when she finally claimed some semblance of control in an industry that has historically contributed to the opposite. But at this stage in her life as a mother of one child, we hope Jackson’s next chapter includes the love of body she has nurtured over the years.
