MADONNA has steadily evolved over four decades in music, but her next step may well be the most unexpected.
The Hung Up singer spent the night with Kanye West in Los Angeles this week and asked him to collaborate with her again after she decided she wanted to record an R&B album.
They performed her song Beat Goes On together in 2008, he produced several tracks on her 2015 album Rebel Heart and appeared in the video for a song from that album titled Bitch I’m Madonna.
Now, I was told that while hanging out with Ye and a few others at a party in Los Angeles, she was open about her planned new musical direction after Madame X’s 2019 album inspired by her time in Portugal.
A party member said, “Madonna and Kanye once again talked about collaborating and she expressed interest in getting into R&B again after doing the same with BabyFace on her 1994 album Bedtime Stories.”
Madonna has shown great admiration for Kanye over the years, most recently in October when she gave a rave review of his latest album.
She was delighted: “The only thing I’ve heard lately that inspired me is Kanye’s Donda record.
“I can’t say that I agree with all of his policies and what he thinks about women, single people having sex, or the gay community.
“But his work is on a razor’s edge, it’s inspiring and rare.
“Everyone has been waiting so long for his record to come out, and when it finally came out, so did everyone else’s records. And he still stood out.”
Meanwhile, Madonna has also hinted that she is interested in working with Kanye’s new girlfriend, Italian-American actress Julia Fox. Madonna has spent much of the past year working on the script for her biopic and has approached Julia, who previously starred in the 2019 crime thriller Uncut Gems, to take on the lead role.
After posting photos of herself online with Julia, Kanye and American boxing great Floyd Mayweather, Madonna wrote: “Went to dinner with Julia to talk about my movie and a few more people showed up.”
How does the other half live?
Rebel Anais bares her salt
NOEL GALLAGHER has done more outrageous things in his life than most of us could ever dream of.
But when it comes to his daughter Anais, I doubt he would be so keen on her getting so rebellious – like posting nude photos like the ones above online, for example.
The photographer posed topless for this selfie, which she shared on Instagram hours before attending the Cirque du Soleil premiere in London in a rather conservative outfit.
On top of that, the online photo caught the attention of Lewis Capaldi, who liked the shot, almost three years after Noel said his music was “destroying youth.” Jessie J was also at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday night for the opening of the Cirque du Soleil Luzia show, which runs until 27 February.
She attended the premiere ahead of a small acoustic show she will play in the capital on Monday. Other notable faces at the launch included Boy George, Mel B and daughter Phoenix Chi, as well as Dani Dyer, who made her red carpet debut with her new boyfriend, West Ham striker Jarrod Bowen.
SCARLETT LOW LOVE
Scarlett Moffat gave up on love before she met her longtime boyfriend, Scott Dobinson.
The former Gogglebox darling celebrated her third anniversary with a cop this week, but said a failed past relationship has left her convinced she’ll always be single.
Scarlett said: “To be honest, it sounds very sad, but I never thought that I would find true love.
“I don’t know if it was because I just met people who were assholes, or what it was, or if I radiated a certain energy. But I just thought, “No, I don’t think love is for me.”
Scarlett added on her Moffatt Wants To Believe podcast, “I thought I just needed to find love with my family and friends because I wasn’t going to get it romantically.
“But when I met Scott, everything changed. He is such a kind person.”
Perry is playing solo again
LITTLE MIX won’t part ways for a few more months, but Perry Edwards is kicking off his solo career ahead of the Confetti tour.
The singer was in the studio this week and enlisted the help of singer-songwriter Fred Agay, who helped inspire Ed Sheeran’s recent #1 album Equals.
He co-wrote and produced the hit singles Shivers, Bad Habits and Overpass Graffiti with Ed, and Perry is clearly hoping that the magic will be reflected on her own album as well. Fred, who is also an artist in his own right and will perform at America’s biggest festival Coachella in April, has also worked with a host of other big names including Stormzy, Halsey and Eminem. Like Fred, Perry co-wrote with fellow singer-songwriter Camille, who helped write most of Little Mix’s biggest hits and is often cited as their fifth member.
I said earlier that her bandmate Jade Thurwall was in talks to sign with Atlantic Records, took on the same management as Harry Styles and had already recorded a track with Jax Jones. Meanwhile, Leigh-Anne Pinnock is working on music and now shares a manager with another big British pop star, Dua Lipa.
The group, which became a trio after the departure of Jesy Nelson, announced in December that they would be taking a break after their tour ended in mid-May.
A summer of solo songs by these ladies seems inevitable.
Britney Spears’ relationship with her sister Jamie Lynn does not mend after the singer fell in love with her again.
The actress caused controversy by writing about Britney in memoirs and giving television interviews, and received death threats from fans of her older sister.
Reacting to the latest round of media appearances, Britney said in a statement posted on Twitter: “I see my sister has been interviewed to promote her book. The two things my sister said bothered me were that my behavior was out of control.
“She was never around me 15 years ago at that time, so why are we even talking about this, unless she wants to sell the book at my expense.” The Toxic singer added, “She never had to work for anything. She was always given everything. I have always been a big person. I hope Jamie Lynn enjoys your book.”
Unhappy in Milan
NEW Engagement Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox looked far from thrilled after their romantic getaway to Puerto Rico came to an end.
The couple seemed miserable yesterday in Milan when they went out to dinner with Transformers actress Megan in a vampire black outfit.
The rapper, in a more subdued red jumper, proposed on Tuesday, and they drank each other’s blood to seal their promise to each other.
Guess I’ll stick with champagne guys.
