Maren Morris could miss CMA awards due to feud with Brittany Aldean

Hard pass. Maren Morris may be a 2022 Country Music Award nominee, but that doesn’t mean she feels comfortable attending the event amid her ongoing feud with Brittany Aldean.

“Some nights are fun. Others I just crawl out of my skin,” she said. “I’m not good at these events because I’m awkward. But this time I feel at ease at the thought of not going.”

Morris’s reservations about the biggest night in country music comes less than a month after the “Middle” singer criticized the 33-year-old Brittany, who is married to the country singer. Jason Aldean – for transphobic statements.

“I would really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I passed the tomboy stage,” the beauty blogger wrote on Instagram in August, along with a makeup tutorial video. “I like this girl’s life.”

The YouTuber later doubled down on her comments on her Instagram story, arguing that parents shouldn’t let their kids transition until they’re of legal age. “Love is protecting your child until they are old enough to make their own life decisions,” she captioned the social media post.

The Grammy winner, for her part, was quick to slam Brittany’s remarks on Twitter, writing: “It’s so easy not to be a scumbag? Sell your clips and zip up, Barbie Rebellion.”

Morris took to social media again the next day to remind LGBTQ+ youth that they had support. “I’m so sick of looking at absolute horses on the internet and people getting away with it, much less getting celebrated for it,” she said of the North Carolina native’s latest comments.

husband Morris, Ryan Hurd — whom she married in 2018 — came to his wife’s defense later that month, saying he was “proud” of the My Church artist for standing up for the queer community.

“A lot of people tell me our career is over, like the last time she talked about something, it was gone,” the 35-year-old California native tweeted. “Honestly, we are fine here. The tours are good, we have a 2-year-old we love, we’re doing pretty damn well and I promise she won’t shut up now.”

In September, Brittany appeared on Tucker Carlson tonight to respond to her previous remarks. While the host Tucker Carlson introduced her, he called Morris “crazy” and a “fake country artist”.

Meanwhile, Morris released a T-shirt with “crazy country musician” on the front, stating that all proceeds would go to the Trans Lifeline and GLAAD Transgender Media non-profit program.
