Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: New book claims Meghan complained about not being paid for Australia trip

Meghan Markle moaned, “I can’t believe I’m not getting paid for this” during a 2018 tour of Australia, the explosive book says.

In his latest analysis of the world outside the palace walls, royal correspondent and writer Valentine Lowe exposed claims made by insiders and former aides.

In an excerpt from his book, Courtiers: The Hidden Power of the Crownshared TimeLowe writes that while Meghan tried to be publicly portrayed in a positive light during her first official overseas trip, behind the scenes “it was a different story.”

In the fall of 2018, the couple visited Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand together.

The book says: “While she liked the attention, Meghan didn’t understand the point of all those walking around, shaking hands with countless strangers.

“According to several employees, at least once she was heard saying, ‘I can’t believe I’m not getting paid for this.

The statement is one in a series of scathing revelations made about Meghan in Lowe’s story.

Lowe also stated that before the couple’s engagement, she tried to communicate her arrival to the palace staff.

The book says: “In the spring of 2017, more than six months before the couple’s engagement, she told one of Harry’s advisors, ‘I think we both know that I will soon be one of your bosses.’

In a short snippet released today, Low’s chosen accounts criticize Meghan and cast her actions in a bad light.

The writer claims that at the beginning of their relationship, Megan demanded that she be officially recognized as his girlfriend.

Its text reads: “Faced with hordes of journalists trying to get to the bottom of every aspect of Meghan’s life, Harry is determined to protect his girlfriend.

“Meghan, meanwhile, told him that if he did nothing about it, she would end the relationship. The source said: “She said, ‘If you don’t make a statement confirming that I am your girlfriend, I will break up with you.’

“Harry was in a panic. Another source said: “He went crazy saying, ‘She’s going to leave me.’

Explosive brawls between the Duchess and her aides during a royal tour of Australia have been the focus of an investigation into bullying at Buckingham Palace.

The 16-day trip in 2018 is said to have led to a string of clashes between Meghan and the staff.

At one point, Meghan allegedly lost her temper with an assistant and the hot drink was knocked over.

A source said: “The tour of Australia is one of the most important in the royal world, but there have been accusations of quarrels with staff for a long time.

“If these assistants come forward, it will become the focus of the palace investigation into bullying. It was a critical time.”

The accusations said that Meghan was upset that she was given only a wing of the Australian Governor’s mansion to live in, and not the entire property.

A month after the tour, the first royal couple resigned, Meghan’s personal assistant Melissa Tubati.

She was the second employee to quit within a year.

The couple’s former press secretary, Jason Knauf, emailed Prince William’s senior aide complaining: “I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to intimidate two aides from home last year.”

Meghan denied the bullying allegations at the time.
