Missy Elliot notes that a boulevard in Virginia was named after her.

Undoubtedly Missy Elliott left an indelible mark on her home state of Virginia, as well as in the music industry. She recently celebrated that a boulevard was named after her in her hometown.

Missy shared on social media an image of a street sign that reads “Missy Elliott Boulevard.”

She shared her admiration for the moment and said,

#757 Virginia… my grandmother who died when I was young always told me to stay PRAY AND DREAM MORE! blvd. I cry tears of joy. I have been so BLESSED, but it strikes my heart in a different way right here. I am so humbly grateful that I am from P-TOWN 2up2down. ALL VA.

According to Hip Hop DXIn August, Portsmouth City Council voted unanimously to have a street named after the super producer/artist.

Over the past few years, Missy has received flowers as she has received multiple awards for her contributions to the industry.

As previously reported, Missy was admitted to Songwriters Hall of Fame back in 2019. This honor also made her go down in history as she became the first female rapper to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In the same year she was awarded Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. And last year, she received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
