What is your sorrowa community and space for those experiencing loss, shared that after someone you love dies, almost all “blessed events” turn bittersweet [insert loved one’s name] were here’. Sometimes it happens with new experiences in our life or with people we meet that we would like to share with those who have passed away.

Eleanor Haley, after losing her mother in 2012, received comments such as “She will always be with you”, “You will know that she is there” and “She will never leave.” But they only infuriated her, because she never regained the feeling of her mother’s closeness.

Although loss and grief remain in our lives indefinitely, small signs like these can help rekindle connection with those who have passed away.

Years passed, she tried everything she could think of to get closer to her mother, but it was never the same. Eleanor believes she saw signs of her presence, but the connection never re-established.

She stated, “As the years go by, I feel less ashamed of it. It turns out I’m not the only one who couldn’t “feel” their loved one. Turns out none of us are Jedi. I miss her. I miss her in ways I didn’t know was possible.”

“I feel so far away from her. And then I feel it. I feel it in a way I don’t feel at all. This is my sadness, the bittersweet joy of knowing that I once had the perfect mother, this is my longing that allows me to feel her.

We wish Leah and Thomas all the sunshine the world can bring and look forward to seeing more of their adventures in the future.
