Things got even worse for Mystikal as his serious legal troubles escalated after his latest rape case. According to new reports, Mystikal has just been charged on his previous first-degree rape charges and if found guilty, he could face life behind bars.
Louisiana State Grand Jury formally charged rapper Mystikal (real name Michael Lawrence Tyler) on a first-degree rape charge that was originally filed back in July. Under state law, if Mystikal is found guilty of alleged sexual assault, he will serve a mandatory life sentence. In addition to the first-degree rape charge, in which the woman claims she raped her and held her hostage, Mystikal is also charged with nine other felony charges, including felony damage to property, false imprisonment, battery in connection with with domestic violence by strangulation, robbery, and numerous drug-related crimes.
Mystikal is currently being held at Ascension Parish Prison, where he has been since his arrest, and he will remain there as no bail was posted for him. Following the news of his client’s indictment, Mystikal attorney Joel Pierce said, “This is an indictment. This means nothing. We look forward to our day in court.”
You remember that this is Mystikal’s third sexual assault case, and his last case was back in 2017, when he was charged with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison for this incident before finally posting $3 million bail. However, his first sexual assault conviction was in 2003 when he was found guilty of sexually abusing his hairdresser.
He was sentenced to six years in prison before he was released in 2010, making him a registered sex offender for life as a result of his conviction in this case.
