Following National Film Day, a small event called National Film Week, which debuted last year, scheduled October 7-13 for the second annual film tour event in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
More than 1,200 cinemas with over 12,000 screens are participating and others can join. The dates are one week later than Cinema Week announced earlier in March.
Events include Community Day, when theaters will host over 6,500 low-income young people on a free Saturday. morning screenings Sony Lyle, Lyle, Crocodilepresented by the Independent Film Alliance.
Most movie theaters offer unlimited popcorn on Family Day on Sunday and special rewards and prizes for Loyalty Club members on Monday. Movie Week also helps advertise several screenings of events, most but not all of which were previously scheduled.
Creator and organizer Brandon Jones of Dallas-based marketing agency FilmFrog acknowledged that the event is a “partial part” of National Film Day, a recent initiative by the NATO non-profit Cinema Foundation that offered a day of free tickets and perks on Saturday, September 3rd. Movie Week is based on small regional networks, neither AMC nor Regal participate in it.
Movie Week is offering some free tickets, but making the most of this week’s new releases, starting with Lyle David O. Russell Amsterdam to Tar with Cate Blanchett, as well as event releases. This includes Horror 2 and Silent Voice – 5 years (signature issue); Billy Joel live at Yankee Stadium (Liberation of Trafalgar); Creek 2 – 25th place Anniversary (Fathom Events); Retaliation (CineLife Entertainment); and more Halloween. original film, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, as well as Halloween 5: Revenge of Michael Myers (CineLife Entertainment) will move to Universal movie announcements Halloween is ending on Thursday, October 13th.
Jones, a former head of Studio Movie Grill, is also a partner in the Cinema Lab group of cinemas.
Participating exhibitors include Cinemark, Marcus, B&B Theatres, National Amusements, Studio Movie Grill, CMX Cinemas and more. Dolby and Cinionic are the lead sponsors. According to Jones, Paramount and Lionsgate are also involved in the studios’ plans.
He said the inauguration is 2021. The event exceeded all expectations with 15.5 million tickets sold, 10 billion media impressions and 20 million theater impressions.
