The season of awards is finally here, which means the films that hit the big screen (but the ones we probably aired at home) are collecting statuettes in hopes of Oscar glory this March. Among those who receive the main awards, attention Spencer, an introspective film about Princess Diana starring Kristen Stewart as the late royal. As the Academy Awards drew near, there were rumors that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be attending the ceremony in 2022. But due to Harry’s reaction to SpencerThe Duke and Duchess of Sussex may not appear.

Princess Diana’s legacy is more important than ever to women living in this pandemic

This was announced by a source who spoke to OK! The sunHarry, in particular, is “pretty shocked by the movie. [Meghan and Harry] have been invited to all major events and planned to attend the Oscars as well, but they will almost certainly face Stuart as she is nominated for Best Actress, ”the source continued.

Regarding how the Duchess of Sussex plans to behave in any interaction with the film’s star, Meghan “thinks they might just ignore Kristen or be briefly polite, but Harry is not the kind of phony and his nerves are still tense.” shared a source. … According to the source, Harry is already considering opting out of attending the Oscars (although it is still unclear if they were invited). “He’s actually thinking about skipping the Oscars, but Meghan really wants to get back on the Hollywood scene.” (Remember, Meghan was an actress before she gave up her American life to marry Harry, so it’s no surprise that she wanted to attend such a culturally significant event in support of the arts.)

Spencer has received widespread critical acclaim since his debut, thanks in large part to Kristen Stewart’s transformative performance as the late Princess of Wales. While the movie takes lot artistic license (the opening title page calls the story “fable”) the way she solves Diana’s isolation during her last Christmas at the Sandringham estate with the royal family before Prince Charles leaves is incredibly exciting. However, Harry survived this difficult chapter in his mother’s life.

Re-trauma to himself, testifying to an artistic interpretation of his mother’s story, is unlikely to benefit his own mental health – let alone a film depicting dark times in his life will receive recognition and awards. We honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex don’t come to the Oscars this year – again, I have no idea what this guest list looks like. But if the reason is that Spencerthen Harry has every right to maintain his emotional and mental health.
