Queen “wore a crown with looted stones” from the colonies – KristenBellTattoos.com

“I think we can mourn the queen, not the empire,” Sunny Hostin said on View Today.

Hostyn’s statement came in response to Joy Bahar’s account of her time performing in the UK, where she said jokes about the queen didn’t pan out.

Hostyn said that while living in the UK, she herself became embroiled in the “pomp and circumstance” that surrounded the monarchy.

Today she has offered a more critical approach.

“Because if you really think about what the monarchy was built on,” she continued, “it was built on the backs of black and brown people.”

View the co-host cited the crown itself as an example.

“She is [the Queen] wore a crown with looted stones from India and Africa,” Hostin said. “And now what you’re seeing, at least in the black communities that I’m a part of, they’re demanding redress.”

The conversation is on the heels of a controversial tweet from Professor Carnegie Mellon yesterday. wanting The “excruciating” pain of Queen Elizabeth II in her last hours.

“I heard that the main monarch of the thieving, raping and genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating,” tweeted Uju Anya, whose parents came from countries under British colonial rule.

Jeff Bezos raised the credibility of her post by questioning its purpose and tone. The tweet was later removed for violating Twitter’s content policy.

Carnegie Mellon called his professor’s tweet “offensive and objectionable” and pointed out that it “represents neither the value of the institution nor the standards of discourse we strive to uphold.”

But Hostin took Anya’s tweet – apart from wishing pain to the queen – as a simple fact.

“There are no lies in the rest of this tweet,” she countered. “It was thieving, raping, genocidal empire.

Referring to (now) King Charles, Hostyn continued: “It’s time for him to modernize this monarchy, and it’s time for him to pay reparations to all these colonies.”

She also suggested that Charles “could also respond to accusations of racism from his son and Meghan Markle.”
