Re-emerged speech by Harrison Ford on Trends in the Climate Crisis on Twitter

Harrison Ford is on Twitter, and no, Star Wars has nothing to do with it. The video of the Indiana Jones actor giving a speech on climate change in 2019 has reappeared on the social platform, prompting users to comment on Ford’s contributions.

Environmentalist Ford spoke at the United Nations Climate Change Summit in New York almost three years ago, calling for action to tackle the climate crisis.

Harrison Ford’s Climate Crisis Speech Is More Relevant than Ever

In a speech given in September 2019, Ford urged people not to fall for those who do not believe in science and can jeopardize entire communities with their views.

“Stop giving power to people who don’t believe in science, or worse, pretend not to believe in science for their own sake,” says Ford in the video.

He also assessed the impact of the climate crisis on America and other countries, saying everyone would be in danger and it was time to act.

“We are all, rich or poor, powerful or powerless, we will all suffer from the effects of climate change and the destruction of ecosystems,” he says, calling it “the greatest moral crisis of our time.”

He continues: “Those who are least responsible will suffer the greatest losses. So never forget who you are fighting for. I cannot protect them. A mother in the Philippines worries that the next violent storm will rip her baby out of her arms, ”he continues.

In his speech, Ford also acknowledged the strength of young people in the fight against the climate crisis.

“These are young people whom we, frankly, let down – angry, organized, capable of changing something,” he says.

“The most important thing we can do for them is get out of their way,” he continued.

Fans recalled Ford’s performance when he went viral on Twitter today (January 10).

“I was scared to understand why Harrison Ford is trending, but he’s okay! He’s just an amazing person who believes in science and cares about the climate, ”wrote one fan.
