Retta recalls a real-life robbery that happened while filming Good Girls

On the “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Retta recalled how they were filming the scene where Ruby, Beth and Annie rob a grocery store when a real robbery took place in a nearby store. Retta said, “They said, ‘We’re going to use their cover.'” “Wrapper”, Christina Hendricks told a similar story during the 2018 Television Critics Association press tour, except that Hendricks was briefly away from the set when the robbery happened and received a phone call to alert her.

Double robbery confused. At first, Retta didn’t realize there was a real robbery going on; she thought everything was part of the show. The staff said “Everybody down!” and “Go away! This is a real robbery,” and Retta thought, “Bro, relax… I need you to sort things out.” It seemed like maybe the staff were just trying to set up the actors for the heist scene.

However, once they realized that a real robbery had taken place, the Good Girls cast, dressed as robbers, didn’t want anyone to think they were committing a robbery. Retta said they were “taking off our stuff so we wouldn’t get caught, like thinking we were doing it. Passing our weapons to props like, “That’s not us, bro.” … It was stressful.” Really stress.
