Sex and the City star Nicole Ari Parker has dismissed “crazy” rumors that she “replaced” Kim Cattrall in a reboot of the hit HBO series amid the British actress’s long-standing feud with Sarah Jessica Parker.
Kim refused to be on the show, telling Piers Morgan that it was “the big decision of my life to finish one chapter and start another”.
Ever since the show began airing on HBO Max, fans have been talking a lot about Kim’s absence.
Many said they miss her favorite character, Samantha Jones, whose absence was addressed in the first episode.
Others speculate that the new character played by Nicole was intended to replace her.
She addressed this suggestion during an appearance on E! News’ Daily pop music on Thursday, saying, “I got a taste of the crazy fans of this show.”
Nicole continued, “They are very protective of the show and all that.
“And I just appreciate it all.”
Nicole also mentioned adding her and several other actors and actresses of color to the show’s cast.
She told E!, “New York has become like New York.”
Kim has mostly talked about the Sex and the City reboot, perhaps in a showcase for the fact that she’s really moved on from her days when she was friends with Sarah Jessica and the gang.
However, she reached out to fans who missed her after the show premiered.
Despite her silence, she seems to keep a close eye on social media.
In accordance with Us weekly, a fan tweeted, “Kim Cattrall hasn’t returned to SATC because her scatter career is finally taking off.”
Another tweeted, “And just like that… I only want to watch what Kim Cattrall does. This is a thank you post to Kim.”
Kim enjoys several support shows.
The SATC reboot was due to Kim’s absence from the first episode.
Samantha was dropped from the show, with the rest of the cast claiming she moved to London after splitting from her girl gang.
She then snubbed Carrie, played by Sarah, and the rest of her friends after she was fired from her position as Carrie’s book publicist.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Kim and Sarah have had their own differences over the years.
The feud between them continues even long after they appeared on screen together.
SATC writer and executive producer Michael Patrick King said that the relationship between the two was rocky from the start.
“The show wouldn’t exist if Sarah Jessica wasn’t the show’s number one blonde star,” Keane told The Hollywood Reporter. Origin Podcast hosts.
“Kim was not at the peak of her career. Kristin was below her in terms of fame, Cynthia was a theater actress – and their contracts reflected this status.
“As the show has evolved, the characters have all grown, it has become a family. Christine, Cynthia and Sarah Jessica became one group and Kim never mentally joined.”
He continued, “Kim had a fight and said, ‘I’m everyone’s favorite.’ Sarah Jessica’s name by contract, by law, by justice, was the only name on the poster due to her being a movie star in 1998 when the series started and she made the leap to do a show about sex on (HBO) channel who put up fights, no matter how popular you are.
“I guess it didn’t matter to Kim how much the boost went up if there was never parity, but there never was parity.”
Also, in 2019, Kim said she would “never” return to the franchise, saying, “You learn from life and my lesson is to work with good people and try to make it fun.”
She then criticized Sarah after she offered her condolences for the loss of Kim’s late brother.
Kim said at the time: “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.
“My mom asked me today: “When will this @sarahjessicaparker, this hypocrite, leave you with her?” Your constant stretching is a painful reminder of how cruel you were then and now.”
She added: “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already). You are not my family. You are not my friend. restore your “good girl” image.
Sarah later told a fan, “No. I don’t like her. I never said that.”
