Stefan Dennis lashes out at Logies after insulting neighbors farewell

Yesterday, Stefan Dennis, the longest-serving cast member of Neighbours, released an amazing spray at a soap farewell event.

The cast of ‘Neighbors’ joined forces in fury against ‘The Lodge’ after Ryan Moloney gave a stunning awards speech live on radio last week.

Neighbours The stars said goodbye to the Ramsay St set on Wednesday, 38 years later, but while the sad day was an opportunity for longtime co-stars to reminisce, they couldn’t shake their frustration at the lack of a ceremony at Logies earlier this month.

Stefan Dennis, who has played Paul Robinson since day one on the cult series, didn’t mince words, saying the event organizers could “fuck off” for being snubbed.

“That was a sore point, old Logies, I’m very angry and I wasn’t alone” – Elder Neighbours the actor said.

“I tried to follow what was happening because I didn’t want to get angry and turn it into a bad night. It was basically cheating.

“Thirty-eight years, the longest-running show in the history of Australian television with many accolades, it talks about the industry and what the show has been and meant for four decades.

“In order to get a 40 second tribute, fuck off.”

He added that he was surprised that the series did not receive “praise” for all it has done for the Australian TV industry both locally and internationally, given its huge fan base in the UK.

Jackie Woodburn, actress Susan Kennedy, echoed this sentiment.

“I thought that was very disrespectful to us and to the industry,” Woodburn said.

“This is the best they could do. It was like a slap in the face and undeserved because I know how hard everyone works.

“It was very simple…why bother? If you can’t do it properly, why bother?”

This came after Ryan Moloney, who has played iconic larrikin-turned-lawyer Jarrod Rebecca on the show since 1995, lashed out at the show’s lack of recognition. 2Day FM Husey, Ed and Erin breakfast showclaiming that the members of the In Memoriam segment had more success than Neighbours Cast.

“If there is any indication, the In Memoriam section… I mean, half the people in it were working on Neighbours … Their guernsey is better than ours,” he said.

Elsewhere, he suggested that Natalie Bassingthwaite and Daniel McPherson represent the cast on stage, which would be an insult to the show’s veteran stars, given that they were both only part of the cast for four years.

He said the actors from rival soap Channel 7, Home and awayeven noticed the snub as they walked over to the table to express their sympathy later in the night.

In March, it was announced to devastated fans that Neighbours was coming to an end.

“After losing our key UK broadcast partner and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no choice but to put the show on hold,” Fremantle Media said in a statement.

“For our wonderful dedicated fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is for all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to finish the show at an incredibly high level. From now on we celebrate Neighbours“.

Neighbours attracts around 1.5 million viewers daily in the UK and up to 170,000 underground viewers in Australia.

The finale, featuring special guests Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, is expected to air in August.
