As it became known on September 8, 2022, as part of the celebration of Star Trek Day, Carol Kane will board the USS Enterprise for Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (via Wrapper). For those unfamiliar, Kane made a splash as the kind-hearted but energetic Lillian Kaushtupper on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for four seasons. She has also starred in films such as Dog Afternoon, The Princess Bride, and Man in the Moon, as well as numerous other films throughout her Hollywood career. Strange New Worlds will be her first entry into the Star Trek universe, and it’s likely to be great.
Kane will play a character named Pelia, who is described as a skilled engineer who knows his stuff and has no time for fools. According to the release, “Pelia solves problems calmly and brusquely, thanks to her many years of experience.” Paramount+ also provided an image of Pelia in Starfleet regalia standing in front of a computer screen. It’s unknown how prominently Pelia Kane will play in the second season of Strange New Worlds, but given Kane’s wealth of experience in front of the camera and always entertaining presence, one can only hope we’ll see her a little more often.
We hope to have more information on Carol Kane Peliya’s character and the release date for the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in the near future.
