Royal good grandfather! King Charles III — who ascended the throne in September 2022 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II — has been a loving grandfather ever since Prince William as well as Princess Kate began to expand their family.
The Princess of Wales gave birth to the couple’s first child, son Prince George, in July 2013.
“The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and their families have been informed of this and delighted,” Buckingham Square said in a statement at the time, referring to the late Queen, Prince Philip. Charles and Queen consort Camilla. “Her Royal Highness and her baby are doing well and will remain in the hospital overnight.”
Kate and William welcomed two more children. Daughter Princess Charlotte was born in May 2015, and son Prince Louis was born in April 2018.
“It’s a very pleasant thought to be a grandfather in old age, so to speak,” His Majesty told reporters in December 2012 when he learned that Kate was pregnant with child No. 1. “I am delighted, wonderful.”
Charles and Camilla, who married in 2005, have since held special places of honor in official baptismal ceremonies and portraits of their grandchildren. However, the king is concerned about one thing in raising the next generation – aging.

The Duke of Cambridge also frankly observed his father with young children.
“When he’s there, he’s just great,” William told the BBC. Prince, son and heir: Charles is 70 documentary in November 2018. “But we need him there as much as possible. … [This age is] perfect time to consolidate a bit. Like most families, you worry about keeping them around and making sure they are in good health. He is the healthiest person I know, but equally I want him to be in good shape until he is 95. It would be great to spend more time with him at home and be able to, you know, play with the grandchildren.
Charles’ group of grandchildren grew even further when his youngest son, Prince Harrywelcomed their first child in May 2019. Wife of the Duke of Sussex Meghan Markle, gave birth to son Archie at that time. The people of California later welcomed daughter Lilibet in June 2021.
Although Charles and Camilla did not spend as much time with Archie or Lily due to their American residence, he sent well wishes to the family of four during his first speech as monarch. “I also want to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives abroad,” the King said in a speech in September 2022.
Camille, for her part, was candid about her favorite hobbies whenever her grandchildren came to visit their former abode at Clarence House.
“I read to my children and now I read to my grandchildren,” the Duchess Camilla Reading Room founder shared on Instagram in March 2021. – I like it. I read to them when they were very tiny. And they got older and older and older, and now they actually read to me!”
In addition to loving the five common children of William and Harry, Camilla is also the grandmother of five grandchildren from her children Tom and Laura, whom she shares with her ex-husband. Andrew Parker Bowles.
