According to Term, “Terminator 2” and “Peacemaker” Robert Patrick was chosen to play Sheriff William McDowell in “1923” – with him he is also an ally of the Dutton family. It’s unclear how prominent his role in the series will be, but it’s an integral part. Now Patrick joins a growing list of Hollywood heavyweights who have signed on to star in one of Taylor Sheridan’s up-and-coming projects over the years. Other notable actors who have worked with the popular showrunner include Kevin Costner, Tom Hanks, Billy Bob Thornton and most recently Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming Paramount+ series King of Tulsa.
Patrick’s most famous acting role may have returned in 1991 in James Cameron’s The Terminator sequel, but the infamous on-screen villain managed to stay relevant thanks to iconic supporting roles in The Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy, which Sheridan did a great job as an actor. More recently, Patrick has received critical acclaim from television critics for his performance in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad spin-off The Peacemaker, starring John Cena. The legendary screen star played Peacemaker’s father, Auggie Smith, also known as the White Dragon. Some of his other recognizable roles include FBI Special Agent John Doggett in The X-Files, sporting goods store owner David Skatino in The Sopranos, and werewolf Jackson Ervo in True Blood.
