Amber Heard is worried about a lot more than how she’s going to pay her $10.35 million libel bill.
After being humiliated in the courtroom, Amber Heard now faces ostracism in Hollywood.
“Has Amber ever really worked in Hollywood?” one Hollywood producer snorted at Page six.
“What else was she really into, besides Aquaman movie? I don’t think she was ever really popular – Johnny made her interesting.”
Known for her Hitchcock blonde looks, Heard was hardly a household name when she slept with Johnny Depp on the set of a movie. Rum diaries in 2011.
This week, a jury ruled in Depp’s favor after a six-week defamation trial that swept the world – finding Heard acted with malice when she wrote in 2018. Washington Post an essay about the abuse and awarding Depp $10 million in damages.
Subsequently, when Depp posted a statement on social media saying the jury “gave me my life back,” celebrities who loved it included Zoe Saldana, Emma Roberts, Gemma Chan, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Aniston, Henry Golding, Riley Keogh and Lakeith Stanfield. Hollywood seemed to turn its back on Heard, who claimed to have been the victim of Depp’s domestic abuse, even before the trial was over.
“Believe all women… except Amber Heard,” Chris Rock said during a speech in May.
“I have no doubt that Johnny will reveal his good name and beautiful heart to the world,” Depp said. dark shadows co-star Eva Green posted on Instagram on May 19.
Regarding Heard’s return to Tinseltown, one senior studio source told Page Six, “I think it’s going to be really hard for her.”
Even some of the people she once considered support had fallen away. Sources told Page Six that Hurd is no longer close to her ex-boyfriend Elon Musk.
In testimony, Jennifer Howell, a friend of Heard’s younger sister Whitney Henriquez and her late mom Paige, said Paige, who died in 2020 at age 63, told her that Musk was suing the actor over the embryos they created together. . .
In a statement seen by Page Six, Howell, Enriquez’s former employer at the charity The Art of Elysium, stated: “Paige told me that Amber said that Elon was controlling, abusive and that she was in a legal battle with him over the rights to the embryos that they created together. He wanted to destroy them, and Amber tried to keep them in order to have a baby.”
Heard welcomed her daughter Una Paige through a surrogate mother in April 2021. Although she did not publicly name the girl’s father, there is no evidence that this is a Tesla mogul. Musk was unavailable for comment.
The SpaceX boss was also on Heard’s witness list at his trial, but never testified. Although sources told The Post that Heard and Musk had a bit of a falling out, Musk tweeted about Heard and Depp late last month: “I hope they both move on. At their best, each is incredible.”
During the trial, some of Heard’s former friends testified on her behalf (although James Franco was on the witness list, he was not). Her former best friend and roommate, Raquel Pennington, said she was “fearful” for Heard, as, according to her, Heard “often had to cover bruises and facial injuries with makeup.”
But in her taped testimony to Pennington, she and the actor didn’t speak for at least six months, after breaking up after an argument on Thanksgiving that turned violent.
“I wanted to spend more time with other people in my life and prioritize other relationships,” Pennington said in a recording that was shown in court.
“I wouldn’t consider her not a friend,” she added. “We don’t talk. We are not enemies.”
But that only prompted Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, to tell the jury at the end of the trial, “That’s the woman who burns bridges. Her close friends do not visit her. You may have noticed that no one appeared in this courtroom for Miss Heard except her sister … all the other witnesses who came to Virginia for her were paid experts.
While Heard has a small close-knit group of girlfriends, she has also been out of Los Angeles for a long time, having moved to a six-acre estate in the Mojave Desert that she bought in 2019.
Her group includes her sister, ex-girlfriend Bianca Butti, and Scottish journalist Eva Barlow.
Butty dated Heard when the actress became a mom, though sources say Heard made the decision to become the sole parent of her daughter.
After the verdict, the operator wrote on Instagram: “Amber is a person I am grateful to call a friend, and no one who stands up to speak the truth should be treated like this. My heart goes out to her in these difficult times. Whatever happens #istandwithamberheard.”
Barlow, who was banned from a Virginia courtroom for allegedly texting and front-row tweets, tweeted that she would “always” support Heard.
Depp was spotted celebrating his win this week while on tour with guitarist Jeff Beck in the UK, and was recently rumored to reunite with his old friend, director Tim Burton, for Beetlejuice 2.
“Johnny will definitely work again,” a studio source said. “Amber can work again, [but] I think it will be more of an indie route. I’m just not sure the studios want to work with her.”
Although Hurd is taking time off to be with his daughter, she is due to appear in two films: Run with mefor which no other cast has been announced, and On firein which Hurd is the best-known name.
During the trial, Depp testified that it was he who helped his ex-wife win the biggest role of her career, as Mera in Aquamanbut said that he later alerted the studio to her when he knew it would “end badly” after their breakup.
According to the actress, Heard was worried about filming the film in Australia given her previous legal troubles. In 2016, she was prosecuted for smuggling her dogs into the country.
The charges were eventually dropped, but fearing that the Warner Bros. studio behind the film would still have doubts about her casting, Depp said he called them on the phone on her behalf.
“She asked if I wanted to — I had a multi-movie deal with Warner Bros., so we had a joint business, so I knew these people — to talk to them,” Depp testified. “I got on the phone and spoke to three senior Warner executives: Kevin Tsujihara, Sue Kroll and Greg Silverman.”
In another awkward moment, DC Films head Walter Hamada revealed that the studio was considering dropping her from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom due to her “lack of chemistry” with co-star Jason Momoa (who liked Heard and Depp’s post-verdict statements on social media this week).
Following the verdict, Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehof said that Heard would appeal.
When asked for Today To show if Hurd has the money to pay off the $10.35 million awarded to Depp, Bredehoff said Thursday, “Oh no, absolutely not.”
The high-profile legal battle has left the actor in financial trouble, sources said, including one who also blamed Heard’s past lavish spending on travel, clothing, gifts and wine.
Several sources said the star had to change legal representation and her public relations team, and is now relying on her homeowners insurance policy to cover the costs of her current lawyers in the case.
As The Post noted this week, sources said Heard’s lawyer bill was largely paid by The Travelers Companies under the terms of the actress’ insurance policy.
Insurance company vice president Pamela Johnson was spotted several times in Fairfax, Virginia court with Hurd throughout the trial. Neither Johnson nor the Travelers returned calls.
An onlooker in the courtroom told Page Six: “After the verdict, Amber got up and left. Her sister Whitney was sitting in the front row, she got up, crossed the barricade and walked out with her.
Another film insider said of Heard: “Most people think she’s taken advantage of the #MeToo movement and that’s why it’s dangerous for anyone to hire her. She showed no remorse, even when things fell apart in court.”
