The untold truth about Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter

While many may think that Draco married Pansy Parkinson, he actually married another Slytherin student. Young Malfoy married the younger sister of his contemporary Daphne Greengrass, Astoria. They had a son together, Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, who attends Hogwarts at the same time as the Golden Trio children during the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

His parents did not approve of her. As part of their bigotry, they wanted him to marry someone who shared their ideals, even though Astoria’s family was a member of the Holy Twenty-Eight. The Green Herbs, like Draco, were working to overcome their prejudice against Muggle-born wizards, which didn’t sit well with Lucius or Narcissa. However, their son opposed them and married Astoria anyway.

Unfortunately, their marriage did not last long. One of his wife’s ancestors was cursed. As described in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the curse acted like a blood curse, passed down from generation to generation, and could manifest at any time. Astoria weakened, especially after the birth of their child, and passed away the summer before Scorpius’ third year at school. Her frail condition and rumors about who their son’s father was caused the Malfoys to isolate themselves from the world.
