Things that happen in every Kingsman movie

If there’s one credo that the Kingsman military seems to live by, it’s to always appear polite and well-behaved in front of friends, foes, and everyone else. This proves particularly difficult for Eggsy in the first film, as he grew up in a much more foul-mouthed environment and is used to swearing like a sailor.

His mentor, Harry Hart (Colin Firth), showed Eggsy that a man can be polite and strong at the same time. Before battling a bunch of bar flies that messed around with Eggsy in the first movie, Harry remarks “Manners make a man” before proceeding to beat the tar out of the whole group. This impressed Eggsy enough to force him to join the Kingsman under Harry’s personal tutelage.

In the second film, Harry says “Manners make a man” before another bar fight as a reference to the first film, although this time the fight does not end in his favor. In the prequel film, viewers learn that the line “Manners make a man” was a line spoken by the villainous Captain Morton (Matthew Goode) to protagonist Orlando Oxford (Ralph Fiennes). Orlando then decided to make the line the founding principle of the Kingsman society he would one day create.
