THEY are on-screen buddies who spend all day together, every day, filming in close proximity to each other, but behind the scenes sometimes things are different.
While fans assume that celebrities who work together are also close in real life, some consider their co-workers to be just co-workers – or worse.
Recently pregnant Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby addressed her alleged feud with Vicki Pattison, claiming they were never anything but workmates.
Speaking exclusively to Kristen Bell Tattoos, Charlotte, 32, said: “First of all, we were never really friends… I don’t think we were, we were probably just work colleagues.
“There weren’t really any repercussions, but she just left and we went our separate ways. We didn’t talk.”
They are not the only colleagues who have reportedly clashed off the air; here we reveal other TV co-stars who have had chilly relationships away from the cameras.
“We’ve never been to each other’s house”
Gregg Wallace and John Thorode
They’ve known each other since 1991 and have been working together for almost two decades, but MasterChef judges John, 57, and Gregg, 57, are “not that friendly off-screen” and have never even been in each other’s pillows.
John previously said, “It’s well documented that we don’t socialize outside of work.
“We have never visited each other. We never really cooked for each other.
“We spend a lot of time together, sharing many things: emotions, food, pressure and changing people’s lives.
“17 years later, it’s still a calm and rewarding relationship. I think it’s an amazing thing.”
“I felt like one of the Edges”
Jessie Wallace and Barbara Windsor
They were both known for their brash on-screen characters, but EastEnders stars Jesse Wallace, 50, and the late Barbara Windsor got into a fight off-screen.
TV agent Melanie Blake broke the moment by telling Kristen Bell Tattoos, “I was at the Queen Vic and saw Jessie Wallace and Barbara Windsor explode on top of each other off-screen in a scene I’ve never seen on air.
“They went for it like cats. A lot of people would run for cover, but I said, “Hey, show business.”
Star Peggy Mitchell Babs, who died at the age of 83 in December 2020, also spoke about their feud, saying, “She was young. She was always late.
“I lost my temper. I exploded. I’m so sorry that I did this now. It wasn’t very pleasant. I felt like one of the Edges. After that, I cried.”
“You’re a nasty piece of work”
Anthony Cotton and John Thomson
There’s more than enough conflict on Corrie’s screen, but there’s drama off the cobbled street, too.
In an old Twitter social media rant, 53-year-old comedian Jon Thomson, who played Jesse Chadwick for two years, gave his opinion on Sean Tully actor Anthony Cotton when the latter was in the “I’m a Celebrity” jungle in 2011.
To the surprise of some of the actors, he wrote: “Anthony Cotton, the truth will come out. You’re a lousy piece of work, you’re not doing yourself any favors.”
According to Digital Spy, when asked what it was like working with Cotton on the ITV1 soap, he added, “Problems are capitalized.”
Although Anthony never responded, his co-star Kim Marsh came to his defense, writing in New! magazine: “I was surprised that ex-star Corry and actor John Thomson felt the need to say on Twitter that Anthony was ‘an unpleasant piece of work.’
“This is not only unprofessional, but also untrue – Antony does not have a single nasty bone in his body.”
“Brawl” ice bucket
Chloe Brockett and Ella Rae Wise
No cast feuds like TOWIE, and they always know how to make sparks fly – both on and off the Essex set.
Back in April, Ella was reportedly involved in a nightclub ‘fight’ with co-star Chloe.
According to reports, Chloe threw an ice bucket at Ella’s head at a party, but hit another woman instead.
The couple first joined the ITV2 show three years ago but fell out when Ella thought Chloe was spending more time with Kelsey, although they later reconciled.
Complaints about “nitpicking”
Shane Connor and Janet Andrewart
On screen, Shane and Janet played the married couple of neighbors Joe and Lynn Scully, but in real life they were far from happy families.
Shane sued the show for wrongful termination of his contract and admitted in court that he suffered from an “amphetamine hangover” on set in April 2003, which affected his performances.
However, he denied being aggressive or unprofessional and ultimately won the case.
According to reports, he claimed that Janet did not like him and was behind most of the “nitpicking” complaints against the producers.
Sharon Osbourne and Danny Minogue
They were both judges on The X Factor along with Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, but Sharon and Danni had a falling out in 2007.
Sharon revealed in her autobiography Unbreakable that she found the time they spent together a “disgusting routine” after Danny had an affair with Chief Justice Simon that left her and Louis feeling like “gooseberries”.
Years later, a cheeky judge reportedly drew a penis on a photograph of the star that hangs in the hallway of Fountain Studios next to her dressing room, with Irish mentor Louie allegedly goading her while she did so.
“Stupid Old Man”
Louis Walsh and Cheryl
The couple’s public feud dates back to when Louis got into a fight with Girls Aloud after calling them fat.
In 2010, Louis accused her of believing the ITV series was “her show” and taunted her on air for looking orange.
Cheryl hit back by saying, “Louis is a stupid old man looking for attention.” Ltd!
“Major Clash of Personalities”
Janet Street-Porter and Denise Welch
They are known for their strong opinions in front of the cameras, but Loose Women hosts are usually buddies, but there were rumors of disagreements between colleagues.
Back in 2012, there were reports that Denise Welch refused to appear alongside panelist Janet Street-Porter.
Last year, when they actually appeared together, viewers were stunned when they fell out over Meghan Markle.
Denise denied the breakup rumors, stating, “In 20 years, I have never had a fight with any girl backstage on this show. Never.
“Me and Carol McGiffin can go and it will be a hammer and tongs.
“Me and Kay Adams, every time we say something, during the break we look at each other and say: “Oh, this is going to be a headline. Fire clash at Loose Women. All time. In a way, it’s part of the show.”
