FIGHT Rebecca Vardy leaves the UK with soccer player husband Jamie following a disastrous Wagatha Christie libel trial.
The couple plans to move to the US regardless of the outcome.
A source said of Rebecca, “She really wants to get out of the country as quickly as possible.”
Wayne Rooney also vehemently branded Jamie Vardy as a “bottler” as disagreements flared up again between former England teammates Vagata Christie.
Three Lions legend Rooney said the Leicester City striker did not testify in court.
A source told Kristen Bell Tattoos: “Wayne feels like Jamie bottled it without going to the witness stand and saying what he wanted to say under oath.
“So he could be cross-examined, like Wayne, about the veracity of what he said.
“Instead, he just said whatever he wanted outside of court and disappeared with Becky, who the court was later told was feeling unwell.”
Rooney revealed at the hearing that he asked Vardy to “calm down” his wife during Euro 2016 amid fears from then-manager Roy Hodgson that she was becoming a distraction.
He said, “Mr Vardy had a can of Red Bull and I had coffee and I remember the conversation I had with him because it was such an awkward moment.”
Testifying on Tuesday in support of wife Colleen, he insisted on being cross-examined: “I was sitting here under oath. I have 100 percent spoken to Mr. Vardy. I don’t know if he told his wife or not.”
However, Vardy, staring at him from several yards away, then made a statement outside the court, stating that “Wayne is talking nonsense” and suggested that his former skipper “must be confused”.
The Vardies left the hearing after Rooney’s 28-minute testimonial, and the proceedings were adjourned yesterday ahead of today’s closing speeches by attorneys.
Sources close to Jamie and Rebecca, who filed a case but appeared upset and emotional on several occasions, say the couple are now planning a move to the States.
A source said: “The trial was a complete disaster and really unhappy for the family. She is depressed.
“They had been planning a move to America for a while backstage and now that would be the perfect getaway after everything that has happened. She wants to leave quickly.
“Win or lose, she comes out of this terribly, and the whole thing was clearly a terrible mistake.
“She never wants to be part of the British joke scene again – she’s keen to get out of the country as quickly as possible.”
Her husband, who is expected to play against Chelsea tonight, has been in brilliant driving form since the trial began and has a contract with Leicester until 2023.
However, he invested in Rochester NY FC, a Major League football club in New York State, which allowed him to play the last part of his stellar career overseas.
The source continued, “Jamie still has a contract, so they’re going to have to work around that. But they agree that America will be their next home as soon as it makes practical sense.
“He is still playing well and it will depend on football, but it will happen. Becky will be happy to leave the country and start a new life with all of Wagata’s business behind her.”
The mother-of-five decided to start legal action after Colin, 36, said stories about her were leaked to the press from her former friend’s Instagram account.
But she has faced a barrage of criticism for taking legal action, with many commentators suggesting her reputation is irreparably tarnished regardless of the outcome.
She sues Colin for “substantial damages”.
The trial continues.
