What happened to Drew Carey from The Price Is Right?

Carey was “grief-stricken” following the death of his ex-fiancee, Dr. Amy Harwick, who was assassinated on February 15, 2020.

Harwick and Carey were engaged for about a year before they split up in 2018.

Harwick, 38, was a prominent Hollywood family and sex therapist who starred in the 2015 documentary Sexing Addiction.

On February 15, 2020, a doctor was found unanswered under a balcony on the third floor of her Hollywood Hills, California home.

Police discovered that Harwick was killed by 41-year-old ex-boyfriend Gareth Poolshouse after the restraining order she had issued against him expired.

Officers responded to reports of a “woman screaming” in the Hollywood Hills area, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.

According to police, she was thrown from the balcony of her third-floor apartment.

Shortly after the news broke, production of The Price Is Right was halted as Carey mourned Harwick’s death.

“Amy and I had a love that people are lucky enough to have once in a lifetime,” Carey said in a statement at the time.

“She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and implacable protector of women and a passionate passion for her work as a therapist. Grief overcomes me.

“I would like to thank you in advance for providing me and everyone who loved Amy with privacy as we try to cope with this tragic situation.”

Did Drew Carey Call for Domestic Violence Law Reform?

On February 19, 2020, Drew Carey shared Change.org petition called “Justice 4, Amy” on twitter and asked his followers to “please subscribe” or “chip off if you can.”

A Change.org petition filed by friend Diana Arias and addressed to local and California lawmakers said Amy Harwick “was killed as a result of bad laws that did not protect victims and did not treat offenders.”

The petition went on to say, “Amy had a restraining order against an aggressive ex-boyfriend ten years ago. The restraining order has expired. “

“This man clearly needed treatment for many years. She should never have been in this situation like many other victims. “

“If the murder of Amy can save countless other lives, as she did during her lifetime, then this makes this pain of her death not in vain,” the organizers of the petition concluded.
