When was Lord Sugar Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club?

Lord Sugar was chairman of Tottenham Hotspur from 1991 to 2001.

An avid supporter of the team, Sugar teamed up with Terry Venables to buy the club to help bail him out of his financial troubles.

However, two years later, Sugar fired Venables and later won a legal battle against him when the former footballer appealed to the high courts.

The move was unpopular with fans who believed he viewed the club as a business and not a hobby.

In 2001, he sold his controlling interest for approximately £ 22 million, and sold the remaining six years later for £ 25 million.

He called his sixteen-year investment in the club “a waste of his life.”
