Why Neo and Trinity are alive in the resurrection of the Matrix

“My mind wanted to imagine a story that was soothing.”

For those keeping track, it’s been over 20 years math question Entered our lives and forever changed the way people made films and thought about life.

I mean, the impact of innovations like “Bullet Time” and phrases like “Glitch in the Matrix” alone cement the legacy of films in film history.

And just when you would have thought math question The trilogy was done/a thing of the past, co-creator Lana Wachowski decided to come back and say, “Hold my red pill.”

In case you’re wondering, only Lana is involved with the Wachowskis Matrix Resurrection. At a Television Critics Association event earlier this year, her sister Lily Wachowski (who co-produced the franchise) said that she decided to walk away from the project because she was “tired” and felt it would be “backward” for her to work on it.

For a quick refresher (or if you’ve never seen it), Neo and Trinity died at the end of matrix revolution (the third, and so far, the last matrix Film.)

When she and Neo crash while entering Machine City, Trinity is mortally wounded (as in, all the cats are crushed by a bunch of rebar). She dies in their ship.

Later, Neo is plugged into the Matrix by machines, which then fill his body with energy, causing him to basically explode and eventually “kill” Agent Smith. And, as we know from experience, if you die in the Matrix, you die IRL too.

The last time we see Neo, his body is ceremonially taken away by machines.

So, when the news broke (back in 2019!) that a fourth matrix movie Happening – With Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss returning to their iconic roles, fans were like, wait, wow,

Now, I’m not going to reveal any spoilers. You’ll just have to wait and watch the movie to see how Neo and Trinity are still alive.

But I can tell you why, when she was talking about why she returned to tell another chapter? math question Including Neo and Trinity, the Lana Wachowskis had a really beautiful and heartwarming reason.

In a release from the studio, the Wachowskis explained, “Later we [her and Lilly] Finished sense8, which was an extreme experience, we felt like we were done. Lily also didn’t want to make films, and we decided it would be closed for now.”

“Then our parents got sick and my wife and I came back to Chicago and moved in with her and we looked after her for the last few months of her life. One night, I woke up, and I was in a lot of pain , and the sadness I was experiencing with my parents dying, my mind wanted to imagine a story that was soothing.”

“And so, these two characters who were dead, my mind, one night, just revived them and brought them to life – Neo and Trinity. And I immediately responded to this hook of a thought with which I awoke, and I went downstairs and I just started writing it.”

She continued, “My art all comes from this emotional place. I tend to think about things intellectually, but it’s all led by this emotion. My heart has to say something about other people’s hearts.” Desire.”
