According to DiversityShawn Levy has been trying to do a Deadpool crossover with Stranger Things for some time now. On the red carpet, he said, “Oddly enough, Ryan [Reynolds] and I was trying to figure out how we could do a Deadpool/Stranger Things crossover. We haven’t cracked it yet, but it’s on the table.”
As mentioned earlier, Levy and Reynolds have worked together many times in recent years. Levy directed The Free Guy (which should have a sequel) and The Adam Project, both of which starred Reynolds in roles that often featured other media. And that’s important because it’s the same energy that Stranger Things and Deadpool have in their media – both projects are heavily structured around their ability to mention or make fun of copyrighted material. Sure, Stranger Things is something special when it comes to references, as they’re meant to fit the 1980s era, but that doesn’t rule out a Deadpool crossover.
The first Deadpool comic came out in 1983, the same year that Stranger Things began. While it’s unlikely that Reynolds himself will join Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and company to take on Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), though… Reynolds… it’s likely that one of the characters is using the Deadpool comic as the basis for one of their monster-fighting strategies.
