Another one for the trophy room! Zendaya took home her second Emmy for her role as Ryu in Euphoria at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, September 12th.
“It means so much” Malcolm and Marie said the 26-year-old star as she accepted the Best Actress in a Drama Series award. “To all the incredible actresses in this category, I am honored to be by your side. Thanks to the incredible, incredible cast and crew Euphoria to create such a safe space to do this very difficult show. I love you all”.
The former Disney Channel star also thanked Euphoria creator and showrunner Sam Levinson. “Thank you Sam for sharing Ryu with me,” said the Marvel actress. “Thank you for believing in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.”
The California native concluded by thanking fans of the show, which was also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at Monday’s ceremony.
“And finally, I just want to say that my greatest desire Euphoria is that it can help heal people,” Zendaya told the crowd. “And I just want to say thank you to everyone who shared their story with me. I want you to know that anyone who has loved Ryu or feels like Ryu I want you to know that I am so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me and I carry them with her so great thank you very much.”

With Monday’s win, Zendaya became the first black woman to win a two-time Primetime Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Drama, as well as the youngest two-time winner of any Emmy Award in history. Diversity reports.
Zendaya previously received the same award in September 2020 for Euphoria, becoming the youngest woman ever to win in her category. However, the event was somewhat more low-key as the in-person ceremony was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
